ATTN: people with dogs!

This Sunday Jennifer Kyzer of Pets at Play is hosting a workshop:
Controlled Walk/Heel, Come
Dog Training

Sunday, October 7th
10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
$25


Needed: 6 foot leash, 15-20 foot training lead (no retractables), treats, choke chain recommended for best results. We will be doing a lot of walking, so please wear appropriate walking shoes.


Workshop held at Fulton Hill Studios at 1000 Carlisle Avenue. From Main Street in the bottom, follow west to turn left onto Williamsburg Road after passing Poe’s Pub, follow up the hill and turn left onto Union Street at the Fire Station, Studios are on left (old school building with blue doors). Park in the parking lot by the school and we will work in the other parking lot and in the field.

Not be an ass, but choke chains are dangerous and not recommended by any vets. However, a gentle leader is a good device! Perfect for training too!

yeah, i second this! though even the gentle leader is problematic. the SPCA sells the perfect harness. not an ass at all to point this out :)

Choke collars should be used as a last result. I'm a bit suspicious of a trainer who recommends those first. It's entirely possible to teach a dog to heel and come without one.
